The Flash's Stamina is underrated

Writer's picture: AJ in real lifeAJ in real life

I'm doing two of these today because I need to get caught up and I can't stand being a day behind regardless of how tired I feel how much sleep I may not have gotten and how much I don't feel like doing anything else. It has not been a particularly great day but I'm staying positive that, that is not indicative of the type of week it's going to be.

This is for Sunday and Sunday was a good day.  A ridiculously hot one too and the air conditioning at my church does not work right now so it's even hotter inside. Insert that joke that the Saints are prone to saying every Sunday ,"if you can't stand this heat, don't go to hell" lol. Like, I wasn't planning on it bro but thank God for the extra motivation haha! I haven't been that hot in church since I was a kid. I know that we do everything extra that we can for the kids nowadays  but I came from a time before kids were special. Don't go overboard with that because you know what I mean. I mean that the playing field was more level. We didn't get eleventy special privileges just because we were kids. It didn't matter that we didn't get served first at dinner or what order we ate in because we were all going to eat so who cared if you had to wait 10 extra minutes. Back when things "built character" and would "put some hair on ya chest" lol. Back when you could be an adult and still get an autograph (don't even get me started on this). Back when church revivals lasted a whole week and nobody cared that's the kids had to go to school in the morning and their grades better not drop. Back when if you lost games you didn't get a trophy for participating because that was your reasonable service as a member of a team and no one should get a prize for that. So needless to say, I hold a lot of the old school ideals my Father raised me on. Anyhow, like I was saying, I haven't been that hot in church since I was a kid. We'd have these huge jurisdictional gatherings of like 20 something churches...in August. I don't have to say more for you to understand how hot it was... but it felt like the equator saw the error of it's ways and left where it's located to walk into our church to go to the alter (too much? Lol). I even created a comic called "Scorching Hot Church" where the parishioners turned to ash before they reached the alter hahaha! I can't believe I just remembered that. But yeah, it was super hot. Now some people would allow their kids to wear shorts to church but my Dad did not care that it was hot. You were NOT wearing shorts on Sunday morning. We were always taught that if you're able, you don't just show up to church on Sunday (or other days) just wearing any old thing. It wasn't about being super deep or anything like that. He told us that Sunday is the first day of the week and we're coming to give God our best. Wouldn't go to meet the President or our favorite celebrity in any old thing so why would we get nonchalant about how we presented ourselves in God's house? Now that I'm an adult I take that to heart. Details matter. It's the principle of it. At the end of the day, all that anyone can believe are your actions. If something is important you make it important through action and I think that if we feel about God the way we say we do, we should be willing to always put our best foot forward when we go to his house. Sue me lol. Fast forward to now, my boys get upset because I won't let them wear shorts to church for the same reason. All I hear is "Daaaaaaad, it's gonna be 95 degrees!!!" Me:  (Big Shrug) Go go on ahead and sweat up them church clothes fam, y'all gonna be ok. Regardless of the circumstances, the standard is the same. It is what it is lol.

So real quick I gotta talk about this tee because it's a tie my favorite one by me. Just a play on the Words of scripture Isaiah 40:31. Picture of the Flash because he never gets tired so "They shall run and not be weary" kind of means "They shall be Meta Humans as they run for the Lord LOL!!! Really though, it talks about waiting on the Lord and how if you do, your strength will be renewed and you'll be able to do what you're called to do without having to worry about the fatigue and drawbacks that we face regularly. It's about having faith in God. Not always an easy thing but not easy doesn't equal impossible. There are many ways to do things but there is also THE WAY. It only gets harder when you deviate from the instructions and do things "your way." Something I struggle with often. Still learning how to wait and how to have faith the right way. Not there yet but I really believe that if your faith is built the right way, things may take longer but at least when it's done it'll function the way it's supposed to. I'm looking forward to turning my faith on in the sequence in which it's supposed to be activated. If you know, you know. Peace
