Taco Tuesday!!! That's written more excited than I actually am lol. I think phones and texting have done that. Things hit different when you gotta narrate your emotions. It's not a bad thing all the time. I mean, we all do it I just wonder what's the truth behind the "lol" sometimes. Are we saying what we mean or are we buffering what we said and softening our stance to represent ourselves better? There's no edit button on the audible things we say but we can go back and look over a message that we send. Who knows how many times something was edited before it got to you. How much different would our conversations be if we only had the option to talk? It's probably a gift and a curse. Being able to filter yourself is a good thing. I'm sure there's a lot peace that's been kept because I was able to read the filtered version of what someone wanted to say. I'm definitely not against it. Nowadays you can't be and for a person like me who analyzes everything that people say, it's probably better for people I interact with to able to text me. I'm a believer that most of the time, the response you get from others is based on your approach. Again, there are many ways but there is also A WAY. I don't necessarily like the idea that everything someone says to me is filtered but contrary to popular belief, words hurt and you can't unhear what someone says to you. There's this meme that says if you're texting with someone and you see those 3 dots moving for 3 minutes but only wind up with a msg that says "ok" then just know that the Lord has moved on your behalf lol. I've been on both sides of that so I for all the pros and cons of both sides I think it's safe to say that this is another instance of being able to have balance.
I swear I never know what I'm getting ready to talk about when I start these so it can be fun seeing where I'm gonna end up. I'm typing like ok AJ, where is this going? Lol good times man, good times.
Back when there were like 2 games for Nintendo was a good time. I remember playing ping on the Atari all the time in my parent's room until my Dad got a Nintendo either for Christmas or his birthday. That one cartridge that had the Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and World Class Track Meet was everything. That's all we had at the time. It was that and the Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda was a one player game so my Dad was usually the one to play it. It wasn't the type you could really play taking turns. In my mind it's the first RPG. My brothers and I were pretty content watching my Dad play. It was awesome. We could literally sit for hours while he played. We all were trying to figure out what to do next. It felt collaborative. Zelda was a pretty detailed game for the time. I mean we're talking like 1987 or 88. It was like a puzzle we were all helping to put together. Those are some of the best memories I have from a little kid was our collaborative defeat of Ganon at level 9. I can still beat that game now but I can do it in about 4 hours lol.
Later on when I was in high school, we had the Nintendo 64 and The Legend of Zelda came out with The Ocarina of time. This is my favorite version of Zelda even though my t-shirt clearly says A Link to The Past. I'd gotten pretty sickly in high school at one point because of my asthma. I missed a lot school. It sucked because I had to take the stupid steroids and spend time not doing anything very active. I had attacks climbing a few stairs or even walking at a normal pace at times. It was bad. During some of that time though, I was able to play Ocarina of Time and figured out a lot of it. Anybody who played games during that time knows that, that was easily one of the best and most detailed games ever. It had to be like 98 or so. Maybe 99. That made being unable to participate in some things not so bad. It made you think so much between the main mission and the side missions that there wasn't any time to really get bored or focus on whatever bad was happening. Even though I don't really have a chance to play games like I used to, I still own the game except I have it for game cube (Ancient I know lol). They'd made a disk with all the Legend of Zelda games up to the Wind Waker. I've had to buy that disc like 3 times. One I lost in a fire, one got lost by my brother and the one I have now NEVER leaves the inside of my game cube. That's the only game I have left for that system but it's also all I need. I just want to turn it on and BAM! Legend of Zelda haha! Also my kids are into it now because of the more recent Zelda games on newer systems. They're like me in that when they like something, they want to know the history as well. I do that with everything lol. Also, random fact: I own the Link costume complete with master sword and Hylian shield.
Well, I have stuff to do. Hope everyone is having a smooth week so far. Talked to my buddy from London earlier and he kinda hyped me up so now I'm really looking forward to getting out there. Got a lot to do today though so I'm trying to do all I can while I don't feel overwhelmed and right now... I feel good.
