I really can't stand having to wait for simple things that take a long time for no reason. Like when you're driving late at night and stop at a light waiting to turn either left or right and there's no on coming traffic from either direction but the light stays red for you and green on the opposing directions. Nobody coming but your light stays red for like 10 minutes (also I'm aware you could just drive through those but cops be lurking and a late night traffic stop is exactly what I don't need). Or when you're at Walmart on a Saturday or a holiday season and they have 22 cash registers but only 5 cashiers working. Or when you're in line at a fast food place and the person in front of you has a long complicated order. Or when you're at the grocery store buying toothpaste and the person in front of you is trying to argue with the cashier as to why they can't go through the 12 items or less line with 15 things. That type of frustration gets more of a reaction out of me than real issues lol. I know it's stupid but I just can't take it. Now I'm at the bank watching people take their time and I have to "woosah" to keep my cool as time just tick tick ticks away like I have all day to sit around. Someone told me once that patience isn't about how long you wait, it's about how well you behave while you're waiting... I'm struggling right now lol
We have service at church later on and I'm telling you that this day has been like the countdown to making it there. I'm looking forward to going a little more than usual because it's such a peaceful place to be for me especially when I'm frustrated. Tonight is the last night of our district men's revival which is a week long and my brother is preaching so I'm excited about that. Plus I missed my other brother preach the night before because I had to leave out early. A few years ago, the district had t-shirts made so we would be able to wear them at district functions and being that tonight it is our church's night to lead service, I'm rocking my district tee.
When we were kids we used to love all the church gatherings because you got to see your friends from other churches which also usually meant that you were more likely to get in trouble during service. There was always that one mean usher or old person that would be nagging you the whole time saying things like, "Stop all the sniggling!" District meetings also set the stage for epic fails and comedic memories to be made. This happened every... single... year. There's always people in church trying to do too much. It's not most people but you can rest assured that you're going to see some example of when keeping it real goes wrong at some point during the week and if you're lucky you get to see it a few times. They ask somebody to read the scripture and the person does a lot of extra talking and has to be sat down, or someone is supposed to be singing a song and they try to do too much and mess up a lot, or somebody comes in with a dope outfit on and they're doing just a little bit too much to try to be seen and end up tripping over something. Whatever it is, something always happens. We were never disappointed. There was this one time my Dad preached at a church right outside of Boston and the home church did a customary welcome and my Mother was going to the mic to give the visiting church response to the welcome. Well before she could get to the mic, this drunk guy that had walked in, ran up and snatched it right off the stand. He started talking like lounge singers do before they start a song, and then he began singing the theme song from that show "The Wonder Years" (I get by with a little help from my friends). I have laughed in church many MANY times since then but I don't know if I've ever laughed as hard as that day. The guy is just singing the song and then he saw the Deacons coming to get him from his peripheral and took off right before they got to him. So now he's being chased around the church LOL! They caught him quick though and he was escorted out. I didn't pay attention to anything else that whole service. Couldn't stop laughing either. I know the adults were annoyed because we were doing that thing kids do when you want them to shut up but they keep laughing for no reason lol. It wasn't my fault man, every time I thought of it I laughed... honestly I laugh about it every time I think of it today and it happened at least 20 years ago.
I usually wouldn't blog on Saturday but I think I am going to try to this week. Can't promise but it's on my mind to try. Of course everything depends on the amount of sleep I'm able to squeeze out of the day as well. I get into those sleeps where I stop caring about stuff because I'm so tired and end up being late for everything. Can't afford to do that so pray for me lol... For real tho
