Well once again it's the weekend which means 6 things for me... Work work work work work work!!! Lol I finally found time to get to a barbershop so I feel kind of accomplished. I also feel like I have no friends. After seeing myself in the mirror today I had to ask, "Who would let you walk around this way?" I mean, I was going like full Teen Wolf over here and nobody said nothing. No wonder people kept tossing quarters at me the other day. You know there's a problem when homeless people won't let you give them money because you look like you might need it more lol. I have no idea if we are getting a Superman sequel or when but I will say this: It's a shame that Warner Bros can't do a better job of handling the DC Universe. I'll keep it at Superman for now but good Lord, it's been bad. I refuse to believe that in the same world the Marvel movies have been written and planned out so almost perfectly, that the same couldn't be done for DC. More specifically, I don't feel like it should be so difficult to make good Superman movies especially when the Batman movies are still some of the best ever made. The best Superman movies to date are still the Christopher Reeves versions. Those of course will always be classics but the one after that don't even come close. Superman Returns was basically 3 hours of foolishness and Man Of Steel was...good. No shade either. Man of Steel really was good and likely would've served as a great set up movie for something great down the road but it never happened. We never got that next great movie and Man of Steel was left on an island of serviceable movies that would've been made legit with a dope sequel. Instead we got Batman vs Superman which was just a cautionary tale to movie makers and creators everywhere about what happens when you rush the process. I wanted to like that movie so bad I lied to myself about it not being that boring... until I rewatched it at home. When you don't properly set things up or introduce characters right, it just ends up a mess. Like an epic mess, a "give the baby prunes for constipation" type mess lol. Who in the world wants to see a train wreck of characters doing things in a movie where there's such a lack of a set up that there's 5 times more dialogue than action? My thoughts exactly. Superman is probably the most recognizable super hero character ever. People use it in conversation to describe themselves when they feel like they do a lot or get a lot done. That big S emblem is so cliche you can find it almost anywhere outside of comic books. It's a major part of pop culture but for some reason we can't get a movie on the level of the Christian Bale Batman movies. It's sad, BUT when it comes to animated movies or series they do great. Go figure. Not mad about that part at all. I've watched Superman the animated series many times over. That's all I want is to be able to bring some of that energy to a live action film.
I think my tee is kind of spot on with where the franchise is. The Death of Superman. But not the awesome story or failed movie storyline. It's the death of Superman as we know him. We live in a time where Superman is becoming less and less relevant because of the studio's errors and that's just sad... but I digress. I don't want to keep talking about what's wrong with the DC Universe but it's definitely what's on my mind at the present moment so I'll just quit while I'm ahead...IF I'm ahead lol. I hope that everyone has a great weekend. I'm just hoping to get a couple good naps in. That would make mine great lol. These Fridays have been coming up quick. At some point I'm going to have to stop and enjoy some summer air one more time because in New England, you blink and it's over. One day you're walking in shorts and sandals and the next, it's snowing out and you need 2 layers of long John's haha! Time for ya boy to hit the road though, so be safe and see ya Sunday!
